The stretch of Canon Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica has quietly become one of the densest restaurant openings in the city this year, and the free public calendar has moved to meet it. If you have lived in Beverly Hills for more than a few summers, the pattern is new. Civic programming used to sit in Beverly Gardens Park while the restaurant scene did its own thing three blocks south. In 2026 they are running on the same clock.
Here is the useful claim to hold in mind: for the first summer in recent memory, a resident's entire week of dinners, art, and outdoor music can happen inside the Golden Triangle on foot. Not because the city planned it that way, but because the openings and the returning installations landed within a five-minute walk of each other. That changes the calculus of how you use a summer here.
Canon Drive is doing the heavy lifting this year
The clearest signal is where the new rooms went. Recent openings include Marea Beverly Hills, the first West Coast outpost of the acclaimed New York City restaurant; the glamorous, supper-club–style 88 Club from Top Chef winner Mei Lin; Pura Vida, the first West Coast location for the healthy café concept; Levain Bakery, known for its legendary six-ounce cookies; All'Antico Vinaio, the famed Florence-based sandwich shop; the first U.S. location for Hi Bake's French and Asian-inspired sweets; and Bacio di Latte debuting its newest flagship U.S. gelateria.
Two more Canon Drive rooms round out the cluster. Bad Roman took the former Palm space with the theatrical Italian-American cooking that made the New York original a scene, and Azur Beverly Hills opened on Canon as a French-Mediterranean restaurant and lounge with a lighter coastal register. The relocation of the beloved deli Nate N' Al's is also in the works, keeping the old-guard side of the street intact while the new arrivals settle in.
One rooftop turnover to note: the rooftop bar at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is now Gemma, a pan-asian restaurant with a menu that jumps from Hawaii to Singapore and back, with dishes like filet mignon stir-fry, lobster with curry noodles, and tiki-inspired cocktails. The view has not changed. The concept above your head has.
What ties these together is not cuisine, it is geography. Marea, 88 Club, Bad Roman, Azur, Pura Vida, Levain, All'Antico Vinaio, Bacio di Latte, and Hi Bake all sit within a few blocks of each other in and around the Golden Triangle. If you live west of Rexford or south of Sunset, most of them are a walk, not a drive.
Thursday nights belong to Beverly Cañon Gardens
The city's free outdoor concert series is anchoring the middle of every week this summer. Concerts on Canon runs every Thursday from June 4 through August 20 at Beverly Cañon Gardens, 241 North Cañon Drive, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a lineup spanning classic rock, jazz, Caribbean, Brazilian, Persian and more.
A few dates worth circling now:
- July 2 — Midnight Regret playing Top 40, doubling as the Independence Day set and the Parks Make Life Better Month community kickoff
- July 9 — Susie Hansen Latin Band, salsa and cumbia
- August 13 — The Brat Pack, an 80s tribute set
The garden sits directly next to The Maybourne Beverly Hills, which is the practical detail most write-ups miss. You can eat at Dante on the Maybourne rooftop, then be in a folding chair for the second set without moving your car. Or start with a sandwich from All'Antico Vinaio a block away and treat the garden as the dining room.
The tulips came back, and the ArtWalk is worth doing again
Kusama's sculpture at Beverly Gardens Park was gone for long enough that a lot of residents stopped thinking of the park as a destination. It has been reinstalled, and the version standing there now is not the one that was there before.
Fabrication of a new stainless steel "Hymn of Life: Tulips" by Yayoi Kusama, refabricated from the original fiberglass sculpture, has returned to the Beverly Gardens Park Sculpture Garden. The unveiling ceremony took place on the morning of March 25, 2026, with the mayor, vice mayor, and council members present. First commissioned in Beverly Hills as Kusama's inaugural public art installation in the United States, the trio of life-sized tulips adorned with her iconic polka-dot patterns remains one of her most beloved works.
That civic detail matters. The original 2007 install was her first U.S. public commission. Beverly Gardens Park is the piece's original home. The stainless steel refabrication is a durability decision, and it changes the way the sculpture reads in midday light against the rose garden and the lily pond.
The city is programming around it. Beverly Hills ArtWalk Guided Tours are scheduled for Sundays, June 14 and June 28, at 10:30am at Beverly Gardens Park, 9439 Santa Monica Blvd. If you have walked past the sculpture garden a hundred times without registering half the pieces, the docent format is the fix.
Two Sundays worth defending on the calendar
Beyond the weekly Thursday anchor, a few one-off dates cluster in July and are worth blocking out early.
Festival Beverly Hills is Sunday, July 12, from 11:00am to 6:00pm at Beverly Gardens Park. The city bills it as live performances, interactive displays, and workshops celebrating the community. Practically, it turns the length of the park into a daylong open-air event and pairs naturally with brunch on Canon before you walk over.
Greystone Mansion is doing more this summer than it has in years:

The Inside the Mansion tour is the one most residents have never actually done. It reads like a tourist activity from the outside and turns out to be the opposite. The rooms are staged, the docents know the Doheny history, and you leave with the answer to the question every guest asks when they see the property from Loma Vista.
What all of this looks like as a week
The point is not to pick between these. The point is that the geography has finally lined up so you can do most of them without leaving a fifteen-block radius. A rough summer template:
- Thursday, 6:00pm — Grab a slab from All'Antico Vinaio on the walk over, catch the first set at Concerts on Cañon, walk to Bacio di Latte for gelato after.
- Friday — Book Marea or 88 Club when the out-of-town friends visit. Save Azur for the quieter Friday when it is just the two of you.
- Saturday morning — The Beverly Hills Farmers' Market, 9:00am to 1:00pm at 9300 Civic Center Drive, then Pura Vida for a mid-morning stop on the walk home.
- Saturday night — Gemma on the Waldorf rooftop, or Bad Roman when you want the volume up.
- Sunday — Either the June 14 or June 28 ArtWalk tour, or the July 12 Festival Beverly Hills, or the July 5 Inside the Mansion tour at Greystone. Pick one and treat it as the anchor of the weekend.
The version of this week that existed in 2024 required a drive to Culver City for the interesting new opening and a separate trip to Griffith Park for the outdoor concert. It does not anymore.
The larger read on the year
The reason Beverly Hills is drawing so many first-U.S. and first-West-Coast concepts right now is not a mystery. Los Angeles is hosting major global sporting events in 2026, including the FIFA World Cup, NBA All-Star Game, and the U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship, and operators are positioning ahead of the traffic. For residents that means the summer before the crowd arrives is the quietest version of this new lineup you will get. The tables are easier to book now than they will be in September, and the Thursday concerts have not yet been discovered by anyone who does not live within walking distance.
